At 46% ABV in a 0.7-litre bottle, this bottling combines classic Irish distilling craftsmanship with a special finish in Pinot Noir Burgundy casks. The addition of ‘1860’ commemorates the year of birth of Douglas Hyde, the first President of independent Ireland and the brand’s namesake. Alan and Conor Hyde are renowned for their excellent cask management and, through the carefully selected Burgundy casks, impart to this single grain an exceptional fruitiness and elegance rarely found with such intensity in a single grain whisky.


Following its maturation, the whisky undergoes a final ageing in ex-Pinot Noir wine casks from Burgundy, resulting in a blend of complex fruit aromas with creamy and spicy notes. The finish lends the spirit additional depth without overshadowing the gentle character of the single grain. Red berries, vanilla and toasted oak characterise the bouquet, whilst on the palate, creamy vanilla custard, apple peel, orange blossom honey and subtle nutty notes create a harmonious taste experience. The long finish, featuring plums, jam, spices and gentle oak, rounds off this elegant Irish single grain whisky impressively.
