El Ron Prohibido Solera 15 Gran Reserva Finest Blended Mexican Rum is an exclusive premium rum produced in Mexico that looks back on a long and fascinating history. The name El Ron Prohibido (The Forbidden Rum) dates back to the 18th century, when the so-called Chinguirito rum - a distillate made from Mexican sugar cane that was stored in sherry barrels and shipped to Spain - was banned by the Spanish royal family because it was too much competition for traditional European rum producers.

The Solera 15 Gran Reserva is matured using the tried and tested Solera method, in which younger rums are blended with older vintages to ensure consistently high quality. The 15 years of ageing in oak barrels previously filled with sherry gives it its exceptional depth, smooth texture and incomparably complex flavour profile.
