Kopke Fine Ruby Port, 19.5% ABV, in a 0.75 l bottle, is a classic Ruby Port from the Douro Valley that impressively reflects the long tradition of Portugal’s oldest port house. The renowned Kopke house has been synonymous with high-quality port wines since 1638, combining centuries of expertise with modern cellar technology. The Fine Ruby Port embodies the fruit-forward and expressive style of the Ruby category and offers an authentic insight into the world of Portuguese port wines.


The grapes come from the steep vineyards of the Douro Valley, where the vines grow on the characteristic schist soils, interspersed in places with Granit. The vineyards are situated at altitudes of up to 600 metres and benefit from ideal conditions for producing concentrated and aromatic grapes. Traditional grape varieties from the Douro region are used, harvested by hand at the optimum stage of ripeness. After destemming and gentle pressing, temperature-controlled fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at 28 to 30 °C. Intensive maceration ensures optimal extraction of colour, tannins and aromas. The fermentation process is then halted by the addition of wine distillate. The wine is then aged for at least three years in a combination of stainless steel tanks and wooden casks before different vintages are blended to create a harmonious cuvée. The result is a port with intense fruit, balanced sweetness and classic ruby character.
