The Kopke Fine Tawny Port, 19.5% ABV, in a 0.75 l bottle, is a classic Tawny Port from the Douro Valley, reflecting the long tradition and craftsmanship of Portugal’s oldest Port house. The renowned Kopke house has been producing high-quality Port wines since 1638 and is one of the region’s most respected names. The Fine Tawny Port combines fruit, maturity and elegance in a harmonious style typical of the Tawny category.


The grapes come from the historic vineyards of the Douro Valley, where the vines grow on the characteristic schist-sandstone soils, some of which are interspersed with Granit. The vineyards are situated at altitudes of up to 600 metres and benefit from the Douro’s unique climatic conditions. After careful hand-harvesting, the grapes are destemmed, gently processed and fermented at a controlled temperature of 28 to 30 °C. Intensive maceration ensures optimal extraction of colour, structure and aromas. Fermentation is halted by the addition of wine distillate, resulting in the characteristic Port wine. The wines are then aged for at least three years in a combination of stainless-steel tanks and wooden casks. Blending different vintages and stages of maturation results in a balanced Tawny Port with a delicate sweetness, harmonious maturity and elegant complexity.
