The W. & J. Graham's FIRST FLIGHT Colheita Port 2003, 20% vol., in a 0.75 l bottle with a gift box, is an exceptional Colheita port from Portugal that combines the elegance of a great vintage with decades of cask ageing. The renowned port house Graham’s has dedicated this exclusive bottling to the centenary of aviation from 1903 to 2003, hence the name ‘First Flight’. The grapes come from the outstanding 2003 vintage, which produced remarkable qualities in the Douro Valley despite an exceptionally hot summer.


The Symington family initially selected the finest wines of the vintage for Vintage Port and also set aside selected batches for long-term ageing in traditional oak casks. Following his appointment as chief oenologist, Charles Symington decided to age the wine in wood for even longer in order to further refine its complexity and harmony. The result is a single-vintage Colheita Port that impressively reflects the exceptional conditions of the vintage and the art of long cask ageing. The low harvest yield, the excellent ripeness of the grapes and, in particular, the high proportion of Touriga Franca laid the foundation for a wine of remarkable depth, elegance and ageing potential.
