The Benriach SMOKE SEASON Double Cask Matured Speyside Single Malt is an exceptional small-batch edition that pays homage to an almost forgotten Speyside tradition. At 52.8% ABV in a 0.7-litre bottle presented in a high-quality tin box, this special release celebrates the annual Smoke Season, the time of year when heavily peated whisky is distilled at Benriach – a tradition the distillery revived over 50 years ago. Whilst smoky whiskies are now mostly associated with Islay, heavily peated single malts were also widespread in Speyside during the 19th century. With this bottling, Master Blender Dr Rachel Barrie draws on this historical heritage and presents the distillery’s most intensely smoky whisky to date.


Benriach Smoke Season is matured in a carefully balanced combination of virgin American oak casks and bourbon casks. This double cask maturation was specifically chosen to highlight the sweet, toasty aromas of the heavily peated distillate. Bottled in its natural cask colour, without any artificial colourings, this whisky combines intense peaty smoke with creamy vanilla, caramel and spicy oak. Notes of roasted apples, cinnamon and caramelised orange peel lend it additional complexity and create a harmonious interplay of sweetness and smoke. The result is a powerful Speyside single malt Scotch whisky that will delight both lovers of smoky whiskies and curious connoisseurs alike.
