Description
The Royal Lochnagar Distillery is one of the smallest distilleries in Scotland, close to the River Dee. The distillery was named after the nearby Lochnagar mountain. The distillery was founded by John Begg in 1845. Queen Victoria bought the castle, which was right next to the distillery, in 1848. John was appointed Purveyor to the Court and the Royal Lochnagar distillery was given the title "Royal".
A mysterious white stallion is depicted on the bottle. It tells the legend of the thick and chilly fog that surrounded the distillery on Royal Deeside until a proud stallion, white as snow, emerged.
The Royal Lochnagar 16 Years Old Special Release is part of Diageo's 2021 Special Release range. All whiskies in this series are bottled at cask strength and are strictly limited.
This whisky is stored in refill American oak casks and European oak casks.
