The Domaines Francis Abécassis distillery is situated in Claix, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. Its cognac has been recognised as a single estate since the late 1990s.

The distillery owns a vineyard covering 280 hectares, situated in the Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne and Fins Bois regions. The Leyrat brand is produced by Domaines Francis Abécassis.

The Cognac Leyrat X.O. Hors D’Âge Single Estate Cognac is a blend of exclusive eaux-de-vie from the Fins Bois region. This cognac is aged for at least 30 years. Some of the eaux-de-vie used are 40, 50 or 100 years old.

The cognac is aged for 6 to 12 months in Limousin oak casks. It is then aged for a further 4 to 12 years in slightly older casks. Finally, it is decanted into an old wooden cask.
