The grapes come from the steep vineyards of the Douro Valley, which grow on characteristic schist-sandstone soils and reach altitudes of up to 600 metres. Following selective hand-harvesting, the grapes are destemmed, gently processed and traditionally fermented in lagares. Continuous stirring of the must ensures optimal extraction of colour, tannins and aromas. Fermentation is halted by the addition of wine distillate, thereby preserving the natural sweetness. The individual wines are then aged for decades in oak casks before being blended into a harmonious cuvée. The long barrel ageing gives this 30-year-old Tawny Port its exceptional aroma, silky texture and unmistakable character. The high-quality wooden case further emphasises the exclusive nature of this rare Port.
