From 2024, the Plantation brand will be renamed Planteray by Maison Ferrand. This decision reflects the company's endeavour to show sensitivity and respect for historical contexts, particularly with regard to issues such as racial equality, equality and diversity.

The name change aims to make the brand image more modern and cosmopolitan. "Planteray" combines "Plant" for sugar cane and "Ray" for rays of sunshine, which support the growth of sugar cane, and aims to create a positive association without historical baggage. Despite the name change, the flavour and production process of the rums remain unchanged.

Planteray Rum PANAMA is distilled from molasses at the Don José Distillery and initially matures for several years in bourbon barrels (200 litres) in the country of origin. At MAISON FERRAND, it receives an additional finish in Ferrand barrels (350 litres) and is then aged for 1 year in Marsala barrels, which gives it unique, fruity notes.
