From 2024, the Plantation brand will be renamed Planteray by Maison Ferrand. This decision reflects the company's endeavour to show sensitivity and respect for historical contexts, particularly with regard to issues such as racial equality, equality and diversity.

The name change aims to make the brand image more modern and cosmopolitan. "Planteray" combines "Plant" for sugar cane and "Ray" for rays of sunshine, which support the growth of sugar cane, and aims to create a positive association without historical baggage. Despite the name change, the flavour and production process of the rums remain unchanged.

After 2 to 3 days of fermentation and distillation in column stills, the rum is initially stored in bourbon barrels for 3 years. It then matures for a further 3 years in Ferrand barrels at MAISON FERRAND and finally receives a 1-year finish in rye whiskey barrels, which gives it spicy rye flavours.
