Bruichladdich Octomore Edition 15.1 is the foundation of the 15 series and serves as a stylistic reference for the other bottlings in this series. With a phenol content of 108.2 ppm, this Islay single malt is an impressive demonstration of the uncompromising Octomore philosophy: maximum smoke intensity paired with a surprising depth and elegance. The distillation took place in 2018 from the 2017 harvest, using only Concerto barley from mainland Scotland. This gives the whisky a powerful maltiness that harmoniously complements the distinctive peat smoke.

The five-year maturation in a combination of first-fill bourbon casks and re-charred ex-bourbon casks ensures intense flavour extraction from the wood. The result is a whisky that embodies the typical DNA of Octomore: brute smoky, but at the same time complex, balanced and with impressive depth. It is bottled at cask strength at 59.1% vol., naturally without chill-filtration and without added colouring to preserve the full authenticity and strength of character of this super-heavily peated Islay malt.
