The history of Krug dates back to 1843, when Johann-Joseph Krug founded the house, which has since dedicated itself to the production of champagnes of unrivalled refinement and depth.

In 2006, Champagne was hit by a heatwave that brought extreme temperatures and 23 days of over 30°C. The weather alternated between very dry and very hot. The weather alternated between very dry periods and heavy rainfall, with two months' worth of rain falling in just two weeks in August. Fortunately, the end of the season was sunny, so that the grape varieties reached a similar degree of ripeness at harvest time as in 2002 and 1989, two particularly generous years.

2006 produced elegant and balanced Pinot Meuniers with pear and apple flavours, as well as particularly aromatic Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs from the Marne Valley, which showed a promising structure and great potential. After maturing for 12 years in the underground cellars, this exceptional cuvée gained additional balance and finesse.
