Description
The Gérard Bertrand Hérésie Corbières Rouge 2020 is a red wine from the Languedoc region with a strong character that combines history, origin and Mediterranean expressiveness in an impressive cuvée. Gérard Bertrand began his career in 1975 with the grape harvest at Château de Villemajou in the Corbières, where he perfected his craft over the years together with his father Georges Bertrand. After taking over the family business in 1987, he founded today's Gérard Bertrand Group, which now comprises 16 wineries and 16 châteaux along the French Mediterranean coast and cultivates around 850 hectares of vineyards. This experience and origin also characterise the style of the Hérésie, which stands for tradition, depth and authenticity.
The Hérésie Corbières Rouge 2020 is an expressive cuvée made from Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. The grape varieties are vinified separately and traditionally in order to bring out their respective characters. Some of the hand-picked grapes are matured in 225-litre Bordeaux barrels, while the remainder is aged in stainless steel tanks. Syrah contributes dark fruit and spicy depth, Mourvèdre adds fine liquorice notes, while Grenache provides fruitiness, richness and elegance after a short cold maceration. With an alcohol content of 14%, the 2020 vintage is powerful, harmonious and balanced. It develops ideally at a drinking temperature of around 18 °C.
