In 1790, 25-year-old George Sandeman, the son of a wealthy Scottish carpenter, asked his father for a loan of £300. His aim was to set up as a wine merchant in London. George Sandeman then founded the Sandeman company, which later became one of the world's leading suppliers of port and sherry.

From the outset, Sandeman specialised in the production and trade of port and sherry. Unlike today, he did not run his business from his own offices, but from Tom's Coffee House in Birchin Lane in London. At that time, business was often conducted on a "gentleman's word" basis.

The Sandeman PX Superior Natural Sweet Sherry is a true rarity among Sandeman's bottlings. Made from the noble Pedro Ximénez grape, this sherry develops its characteristic natural sweetness and intense flavour.

The ageing process is carried out using the traditional Solera method, in which the sherry is matured in several barrels over a period of years.
