Description
In 1975, Gérard Bertrand began his grape harvest at Château de Villemajou in the Corbières, where he discovered his passion for wine. Over the course of twelve years, he honed his skills alongside his father Georges Bertrand until the fourth generation finally carried on the legacy. After the tragic death of his father in 1987, Gérard Bertrand took over the family management of the Domaine de Villemajou and founded the Gérard Bertrand wine company. The Gérard Bertrand Group comprises 16 wine estates and 16 châteaux along the Mediterranean coast of France, covering a total of 850 hectares. Some of the hand-harvested grapes are matured in 225-litre Bordeaux barrels, while the rest is stored in stainless steel tanks.
Gérard Bertrand Héritage An 462 Languedoc is a powerful and elegant red wine from the Languedoc region, made from the Syrah and Grenache grape varieties. The grapes are harvested separately and by hand to ensure optimum ripeness. The Syrah grapes undergo a whole bunch fermentation with a maceration period of around 15 days, while the Grenache grapes receive a longer maceration period of 3 weeks. Part of the wine matures for 10 months in 225-litre Bordeaux barrels, which gives it additional depth.
