The Louis Roederer Champagne CRISTAL 2016, 12.5% vol., in a 0.75 l bottle with a gift box, is one of the world’s most legendary prestige champagnes and embodies the highest expression of the House of Louis Roederer. Ever since it was first created for the Russian Tsar Alexander II, Cristal has stood for uncompromising quality, exceptional precision and an unmistakable style. The 2016 vintage stands out as one of the most impressive Cristal vintages of recent decades, combining power, freshness and elegance at the very highest level.


The 2016 growing season was characterised by extreme contrasts. A cool and rainy spring gave way to a hot, dry summer, which reached its peak at the end of August. The dry and sunny conditions during the harvest allowed the grapes to ripen to perfection. The blend consists of 58% Pinot Noir and 42% Chardonnay, sourced from a total of 32 plots in the finest Grand Cru vineyards, including Verzenay, Verzy, Beaumont-sur-Vesle, Aÿ, Avize, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Cramant. Around 31 per cent of the wines were aged in wooden barrels, whilst malolactic fermentation was deliberately omitted to preserve the vintage’s freshness and vibrancy. Cristal 2016 impresses with its exceptional balance between ripeness, energy, minerality and depth, and is already regarded as one of the great vintages in Cristal’s history.
