The Salzl Merlot Reserve 2021 is a powerful, dense yet elegantly balanced red wine from the Seewinkel region of Burgenland. Made from 100% Merlot, this wine reflects the full potential of the grape variety - warm, deep, with a silky tannin structure and aromatic density. The vines are rooted in black soil consisting of loamy silt with a high gravel content, a soil that gives the wine a clear structure, depth of fruit and mineral freshness.

After traditional maceration, the grapes are vinified in steel tanks at 30 °C with a 14-day maceration period and then undergo malolactic fermentation. Further ageing takes place for 12 months in small oak barrels made from 100% new wood - an ageing method that gives the wine fullness, silky tannins and an elegant roasted flavour. With 14.5% alcohol by volume, the Merlot Reserve impresses with its intense fruit, harmonious depth and impressive ageing potential until at least 2034.

A true Spitz Merlot that bears both international standards and the Burgenland signature - full of character, ripe fruit and with a finish that lingers for a long time.
