The Winkler-Hermaden Olivin 2021 in the exclusive 5-litre wooden crate is an impressive, powerful red wine from the volcanic region of Styria that combines origin, craftsmanship and nature in a fascinating way. Its name refers to the green crystal olivine, which is found in volcanic rock and symbolises the connection between vine and oak - a symbiosis that is poetically described on the label: "Green crystal in volcanic rock unites vine and oak in wine." The oaks from which the barriques are made also grow in the same climate and on the same soils around Schloss Kapfenstein.


The wine is made from the Blauer Zweigelt grape variety, which finds the best conditions on the volcanic soils of the Kapfensteiner Kogel. After careful hand-picking, the wine is matured for 24 months in Kapfenstein oak barriques, which gives the wine its unrivalled depth and structure. This combination of organic viticulture, regional wood and precise cellar work gives the Olivin 2021 its unique character - authentic, elegant and impressively complex.
