The Tement Morillon Ried Sulz Südsteiermark DAC 2022 comes from a distinctive south-south-west-facing basin site, which offers a particularly warm microclimate due to its closed shape. Ried Sulz is one of the winery's most important sites and is considered an ideal location for Burgundian varieties such as Morillon due to its structure. The site is characterised by blue and brown limestone marl, a slope inclination of 45 percent and an orientation of 150° SE to 220° SW at 430-472 metres above sea level. The interplay of these factors creates optimal conditions for vines with a high degree of ripeness; the vines in this vineyard are 29 years old. After natural spontaneous fermentation, the wine matures for 30 months on the fine lees in small French oak barrels (228 litres) and is then bottled unfiltered. A natural cork serves as a classic closure. The ideal drinking age is between 2026 and 2046, which emphasises the remarkable development potential of this bottling.


The origin from the powerful Kessel vineyard and the long yeast maturation give this Morillon Südsteiermark DAC a clear structure and the Burgundian elegance that characterises the Ried Sulz.
