The Braida Bricco dell'Uccellone Barbera d'Asti DOCG 2022, 15% ABV, in a 0.75-litre bottle, is an outstanding Italian red wine from Piedmont and ranks among the best-known expressions of the Barbera grape variety. This characterful wine is made from 100% Barbera grapes sourced from Braida’s own vineyards in the hills of Rocchetta Tanaro. The name ‘L’Uccellone’ derives from the nickname given to a woman who once lived on the hill where the vineyards now stand. She was given this distinctive name in the village because of her striking nose, which resembled a bird’s beak, and her habit of always wearing black.


The Braida Bricco dell’Uccellone Barbera d’Asti DOCG impressively demonstrates the potential of the Barbera grape. Following a temperature-controlled maceration on the skins for around 20 days, the wine is aged for 12 months in oak barriques and then for a further 12 months in the bottle. This ageing process lends it depth, structure and elegance, without masking the grape variety’s typical character. The 2022 vintage impresses with its power, concentration and an impressive balance between fruit, oak and finesse. With an alcohol content of 16% vol., this Barbera d’Asti DOCG is a long-lived premium wine with great expression.
