Zacapa Edición Negra is an exceptional premium rum from Guatemala, inspired by the natural forces of the country and the dark power of its volcanoes. Its production begins with particularly high-quality sugar cane, which grows under ideal climatic conditions in the heart of Central America. One of the special features of this rum is the use of "Virgin Sugar Cane Honey", the noble essence of the first pressing of the sugar cane, which ensures unrivalled depth and complexity.

It is matured using the elaborate Solera process, in which distillates of different ages - between six and 23 years - are married in carefully selected oak barrels. These barrels, which previously contained bourbon, sherry and Pedro Ximénez wine, give the Zacapa Edición Negra its impressive flavour. The special thing about this rum is the final maturation in double-burnt American oak barrels, which were previously filled with American whiskey. This process ensures its intense, smoky character, which clearly stands out from the sweet, caramel-accentuated flavour of Zacapa 23.

Every step of the production process takes place under the supervision of Master Blender Lorena Vásquez, who is world-famous for her powerful and expressive rum creations. Maturation takes place at 2,300 metres above sea level in the "house above the clouds", which slows down the maturing process and gives the rum its extraordinary complexity and elegance.
