Description
DAS PHANTOM 2023 is the legendary signature wine from K+K Kirnbauer in central Burgenland - a red wine with cult status that has been one of Austria's style-defining cuvées for decades. The 2023 vintage consists of a finely balanced blend of 44% Blaufränkisch, 23% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc and 4% Syrah. The vines are rooted in heavy clay and sandy loam soils, which gives the wine its depth, strength and flavour.
After temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the young wine underwent malolactic fermentation in barriques, followed by 18 months of ageing in 225-litre French oak barrels. This phase gives the wine its polished tannin structure, fine roasted flavours and a complex aroma with depth. The wine was bottled in March 2024 and is ready to drink immediately, but has ageing potential until at least 2041, when it will continue to gain finesse and expression.
