Description
The Bunnahabhain Distillery, situated on the picturesque coast of the Isle of Islay, was founded in 1881 and is renowned for its unique, unpeated whiskies. The distillery originally relied on maritime trade and experienced a turning point in 1960 with the construction of a new road, which improved logistics. Following a brief closure in the 1930s and the last ship’s arrival in 1993, the road became the main supply route. In 2006, following its acquisition by Burn Stewart Distillers, the brand’s image underwent a modern revamp. The water used for the whiskies comes from calcareous springs and is channelled to the distillery without coming into contact with peat, which gives the whiskies their mild, characteristic flavour.
Bunnahabhain EIRIGH NA GREINE (pronounced: ae-ree ne gray-nyuh) means ‘morning sky’ in Gaelic and represents the light-filled essence of this special bottling. This single malt Scotch whisky is a blend of selected single malts, including some of the most exquisite that have been matured in former red wine casks.
