Mari Mayans Hierbas Ibicencas is a traditional herbal liqueur from Ibiza, whose recipe is inspired by the Mediterranean flora of the Balearic island. A total of 18 different herbs, peelings and roots are used in its production, many of which are native to Ibiza. Well-known ingredients include aniseed, lemon peel, orange peel, juniper berries, thyme, rosemary and mountain mint. The individual botanicals are first macerated separately and very gently to ensure that their respective flavours remain as unadulterated as possible. Only then are the various infusions carefully blended together. Wine and alcohol derived from molasses serve as the alcoholic base, creating a complex foundation for the Mediterranean herbs and spices.


To complete the Mari Mayans Hierbas Ibicencas herbal liqueur, demineralised water and 160 grams of sugar per litre are added. Another distinctive feature is evident directly in the 1-litre bottle, as visible herb stalks are bottled alongside the finished liqueur. These emphasise the traditional and botanically-focused character of this speciality from Ibiza. At 26 per cent, this Spanish herbal liqueur combines pronounced aniseed and herbal aromas with Mediterranean citrus notes, as well as spicy and subtly tart elements. The meticulous individual maceration of the 18 ingredients in total and the close connection to Ibiza’s flora make Mari Mayans Hierbas Ibicencas a distinctive speciality of the Balearic Islands.
