The Douglas Laing Scallywag Speyside Blended Malt is a blended malt Scotch whisky composed exclusively of selected Speyside single malt whiskies. For this blend, which is bottled in small batches, the independent Scottish bottler Douglas Laing uses malts from Mortlach, Macallan and Glenrothes, amongst others. The whiskies used are predominantly matured in Spanish sherry casks, the influence of which significantly shapes Scallywag’s characteristically rich and fruity style. The name and the distinctive label are inspired by the Douglas Laing family’s Fox Terriers and give the bottling a high level of recognisability within the Remarkable Regional Malts range.


The Scallywag Speyside Blended Malt is part of Douglas Laing’s Remarkable Regional Malts series and represents the characteristic Speyside whisky style within the range. It is bottled at 46% in a 0.7-litre bottle, complete with a gift box, and deliberately without chill filtration or the addition of colouring. Its rich, dark colour comes exclusively from cask maturation, in particular from the Spanish sherry butts used. Furthermore, the blending and bottling take place in small batches, which gives Scallywag its special status within the Douglas Laing range. The combination of renowned Speyside single malts, sherry cask-influenced maturation, small-batch character and natural bottling makes it an interesting choice for lovers of full-bodied blended malt Scotch whiskies.
