Description
Douglas Laing Big Peat Islay Blended Malt is a characterful blended malt Scotch whisky, composed exclusively of single malt whiskies from the Scottish island of Islay. For Big Peat, the independent bottler Douglas Laing blends selected Islay malts in small batches. Well-known components include whiskies from Caol Ila, Bowmore and Ardbeg, as well as a contribution from the legendary Port Ellen Distillery, which has long been closed. Caol Ila contributes a delicate sweetness, Bowmore provides balance, Ardbeg adds medicinal and earthy notes, and Port Ellen lends elegance to the blend. Big Peat is part of the Remarkable Regional Malts series, through which Douglas Laing reflects Scotland’s distinctive whisky regions in individual blended malts.
This exceptional edition is presented at 46% ABV in an imposing 4.5-litre large bottle with a swivel stand. The practical stand allows the large bottle to be swivelled comfortably for pouring, whilst also making the bottle a striking eye-catcher in home bars, restaurants or at events. As is characteristic of Big Peat, the whisky is bottled without chill filtration and without the addition of colouring. This ensures that the original character of the Islay malts used is largely preserved. The combination of Islay single malts, small-batch bottling, 46 per cent, natural colour and non-chill filtration, together with the spectacular 4.5-litre format and swivel stand, makes this Big Peat edition particularly appealing to Islay enthusiasts, collectors and larger whisky gatherings.
