Description
Description
Julia Invecchiata Grappa is an aged Italian grappa from Friuli, a region in north-eastern Italy with a long tradition of wine-making and distilling. It is produced from the grape pomace left over from winemaking, with Julia Invecchiata being made from selected grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Malvasia Nera. Once the raw material has fermented, distillation takes place using a column still, producing a distillate with a clear structure. Its name ‘Invecchiata’ refers to the subsequent ageing process, during which the grappa is stored in oak casks. Contact with the wood lends it additional depth and clearly distinguishes it from unaged, clear grappa varieties.
At 40% ABV in a 0.7-litre bottle, Julia Grappa Invecchiata combines traditional Italian pomace processing with a barrel-aged style. Whilst the different grape varieties form the basis for its multi-layered character, the ageing in oak contributes significantly to its rounded structure and pronounced mature notes. The result is a grappa in which fruit, spice and wood are in perfect balance. Its origins in Friuli, the use of selected grape pomace and the subsequent barrel ageing make Grappa Julia Invecchiata a classic choice for lovers of mature Italian spirits and an interesting alternative to young grappas without any oak influence.
