Zacapa 23 Centenario Gran Reserva, one of the world’s most renowned and well-known rums, is produced by the Guatemalan rum brand Zacapa, which was founded in 1976. Zacapa is internationally renowned for its high-quality rums, which are produced using a unique and highly complex ageing process.

The rum is produced in the highlands of Guatemala, where the cool climate and high altitude create optimal conditions for ageing. The sugar cane used, which grows on fertile volcanic soil, gives the rum a distinctive flavour profile that sets it apart from other varieties.

In keeping with Zacapa’s tradition, Zacapa Centenario Royal is made from ‘virgin sugar cane honey’, meaning it is derived from the first pressing of the sugar cane. Following distillation, it underwent Zacapa’s special ageing process, known as the ‘Solera’, in which different vintages are stored using a continuous blending method.

Zacapa’s Master Blender selected the rarest and best-aged rums from the cellars of Guatemala to create Zacapa Royal. It was given its distinctive finish in fine French oak casks, and the slow maturation of this rum plays a decisive role in the development of its complex flavour profile.
