The history of Ableforth's Bathtub Gin goes back to the time of American Prohibition, when the production of alcohol often took place under adventurous conditions. Due to the lack of legally available alcohol at the time, people resorted to low-quality or even denatured alcohol and mixed it with juniper and other spices in bathtubs at home. The herbs and spices were left in the alcohol for several days or weeks to improve its flavour and conceal its inferior quality. This gave rise to the term "Bathtub Gin".

Following these historical methods and inspired by history, the producers of Ableforth's researched various historical sources to create their own unique gin. They started with a classic London Dry Gin, traditionally distilled in a copper pot still. But unlike conventional gins, where the production process ends after distillation, the Bathtub Gin continues to experiment. Over the course of seven days, six selected botanicals are added to the distillate, which not only give the gin exceptional aromas and flavours, but also a light colouring.

Bathtub Gin is produced in small batches of only 30-60 bottles, with regular spot checks for quality assurance. This ensures a high level of craftsmanship and quality at every step of the production process.
