Description
Eddu SILVER Pur Blé Noir Whisky is an exceptional speciality from Brittany and is regarded as the world’s first whisky made from pure buckwheat (Blé Noir). With an ABV of 43% in a 0.7-litre bottle presented in a high-quality gift box (GB), this bottling embodies a spirit of innovation and Breton craftsmanship. Back in 2002, the Distillerie des Menhirs introduced the world’s first buckwheat whisky, the EDDU Silver L’Original, thereby opening up an entirely new category within the world of whisky. Instead of barley, the distillery deliberately uses 100 per cent buckwheat, even though this yields significantly lower harvests and a lower alcohol yield. This uncompromising decision in favour of quality and character gives the whisky its distinctive aroma. The Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) ‘Whisky de Bretagne’ also guarantees that all stages of production – from milling through to distillation and maturation – take place entirely in Brittany.
Eddu SILVER is matured for five years in ex-Cognac casks made of French oak, allowing the delicate fruit and spice notes to blend harmoniously with elegant woody undertones. This exceptional spirit captivates with an intense and complex bouquet that differs markedly from classic barley whiskies. Fresh citrus fruits, toasted hazelnuts and floral notes of roses and heather characterise the bouquet. On the palate, notes of apple, orange peel and candied apricots unfold, accompanied by cinnamon and nutmeg. The creamy body and the pleasantly fresh, balanced finish make this Breton buckwheat whisky a truly distinctive tasting experience.
