Description
Cork, situated on the southern coast of Ireland, is home to the picturesque town of Skibbereen, through which the River Ilen flows. This region is renowned for its scenic beauty and cultural significance, particularly in the tradition of whisky-making. In 2007, three friends founded the West Cork Distillery in Skibbereen. This small, independent distillery is renowned for producing high-quality whiskies, crafted with great care and artisanal skill.
From the very beginning, the founders have prioritised quality and tradition, combined with an innovative approach. West Cork Distillery uses crystal-clear spring water and carefully selected grains. This commitment reflects the spirit of innovation and craftsmanship that characterise the Irish whisky industry.
The Peat Charred Cask Irish Whiskey is aged for five years in ex-Bodega sherry casks before being finished for six months in new American oak casks. These casks are first peated and smoked using bog oak from Glengarriff. The wood contains a particularly high natural peat content.
