Asbach GmbH, a renowned wine distillery in Rüdesheim am Rhein, uses only selected wines for its sophisticated ‘Rauh’ and ‘Feinbrand’ distillation processes. The distillates are first matured in Limousin oak casks and subsequently in particularly breathable German oak casks. These casks provide the fine spirits with optimal conditions to ‘breathe’ and allow their aromas to develop fully. A secret ageing and refining process gives every Asbach its radiant topaz colour and characteristic bouquet.

The bottle label is modelled on the original recipe from 1892, which the founder, Hugo Asbach, wrote down himself. The lion in the seal, the Asbach family’s heraldic animal, symbolises the founder’s courage as well as the strength and quality of the product.

Since 1892, Asbach Uralt has been produced from selected base wines to the highest quality standards. After multiple distillations, this brandy is aged four to five times longer than required by law, initially in Limousin oak casks and subsequently in German Spessart oak casks. This long ageing period and the careful selection of casks give Asbach Uralt its characteristic, rich flavour and make it a classic amongst German brandies.
