Description
The Tomintoul Distillery, situated in the Scottish Highlands within the Cairngorms National Park and named after the nearby village of Tomintoul, opened its doors in 1964 and is now owned by Angus Dundee Distillers.
Situated at an altitude of 370 metres above sea level, Tomintoul is Scotland’s second-highest distillery, surpassed only by the Braeval Distillery, which was founded in 1973. Although the majority of the 3.2 million litres of spirit produced annually is exported to the United States for use in blends, Tomintoul regularly releases special single-cask bottlings.
Seiridh, pronounced ‘sheh-ree’, is the Gaelic word for sherry. This perfectly balanced single malt is initially matured in American bourbon casks, which give it its basic structure and initial flavours, before being finished in carefully selected Oloroso sherry butts from Jerez in Andalusia, Spain, which lend it its distinctive sherry notes. This exclusive bottling is limited to 6,000 bottles worldwide.
