The Ardbeg Wee Beastie 5 Years Old is the youngest whisky in the core range of the famous Islay distillery, Ardbeg. With a robust alcohol content of 47.4% ABV and a comparatively short maturation period of just 5 years, this single malt is particularly spirited, intense and peaty – very much in the style of a wild ‘little beast’, as the name suggests.

Ardbeg is one of Scotland’s most historic distilleries: whisky had been distilled here unofficially since 1794, before it was officially founded by John McDougall in 1815. The name ‘Ardbeg’ comes from Gaelic and means ‘little hill’, a reference to its geographical location on the south coast of Islay, a region world-renowned for its heavily peated, maritime-influenced whiskies.

The Wee Beastie was developed especially for lovers of intensely smoky and youthful whiskies. Its maturation in ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks lends it not only a dominant peaty note but also spicy, sweet and slightly fruity accents. It is a whisky with a robust character, distinguished by its unbridled nature and direct aromatics.
