Equiano Original Rum is a premium rum with an international appeal that blends African and Caribbean rum traditions. It is produced by blending matured rums from Mauritius and Barbados. The Mauritian component is produced at Gray’s Distillery and matured in various oak casks, whilst the rum from Barbados comes from the historic Foursquare Distillery. Ageing takes place under tropical climatic conditions, facilitating an intensive exchange between the distillate and the oak of the casks. The result is blended in limited batches and bottled at 43% alcohol by volume.

A key feature of Equiano Original is the consistent avoidance of any subsequent additives. The rum is produced without added sugar, spices, flavourings or colourings, thereby emphasising the natural character of the distillates used and their cask maturation. Equiano is named in honour of Olaudah Equiano, a writer and abolitionist who rose to prominence in the 18th century. With its blend of Mauritius and Barbados, tropical maturation and natural production, Equiano Rum 0.7 l positions itself as a distinctive premium bottling for lovers of authentic, unadulterated rum.
