Scapegrace BLACK Premium Dry Gin is an exceptional premium gin from New Zealand, characterised by its naturally dark colour and the way it changes colour on contact with tonic water. It is based on Scapegrace Classic Dry Gin, which features twelve botanicals: juniper, coriander, nutmeg, cardamom, lemon peel, orange peel, violet root, cinnamon, cassia, angelica, cloves and liquorice. For the Black Edition, this base is complemented by, amongst other things, butterfly flower, aronia berries, saffron, pineapple and sweet potato. These botanical ingredients are also responsible for the distinctive colour effect. When served neat, the gin appears a deep dark purple to almost black, whilst the change in pH when mixed with tonic water transforms it into a vibrant violet to pink.

New Zealand wheat and pure spring water from an underground aquifer in Canterbury form the basis of Scapegrace BLACK Gin. Distillation takes place in small batches using a traditional John Dore copper still. With an alcohol content of 41.6 per cent and a 0.7-litre bottle, this colour-changing gin from New Zealand combines classic dry gin elements with a modern botanical concept. The bottle design also has historical references and is modelled on traditional genever bottles. The brand name Scapegrace, meaning ‘good-for-nothing’ or ‘rogue’, deliberately draws on the rebellious side of gin’s history.
