Ron Matusalem Insolito Wine Cask Limited Edition is an exceptional rum speciality, bottled at 40 per cent in a 0.7-litre bottle, which combines traditional rum production with innovative cask maturation. The name ‘Insolito’ means ‘unusual’ in Spanish and reflects the unique character of this limited edition. Inspired by the elegant rosé wines of Provence, Master Blender Cynthia Vargas developed a special blend using the finest matured rums from the Matusalem house. Following gentle charcoal filtration, the blend was aged for a further three years in the Solera system in ex-Tempranillo wine casks before being blended with the legendary Ron Matusalem Gran Reserva 15. The result is an exceptional rum with an elegant rosé colour and a fascinating blend of rum and wine cask aromas.


The Ron Matusalem Insolito Wine Cask Limited Edition combines the depth of aged rums with the refined elegance of Tempranillo wine casks. On the nose, it reveals notes of vanilla, subtle woody notes and delicate fruit aromas. On the palate, vanilla, butter, red berries and a hint of liquorice unfold, whilst the creamy texture ensures a particularly smooth mouthfeel. The long finish is characterised by notes of toasted bread, fruity berry notes and subtle wine tannins, which lend the rum additional complexity.
