The company’s founder, Don Andrés Brugal Montaner, left his native Spain to seek his fortune in the Caribbean. Having learnt the art of rum-making in Cuba, he moved to the Dominican Republic around 1855, specifically to Puerto Plata. The Brugal rum is still aged in this town today. After a few years there, he developed his own production method, which ensures the consistent quality of the rum. This method remains a closely guarded secret to this day, now passed down from generation to generation.
Delightfully buttery aromas and subtle hints of caramel emerge. Light woody aromas with gentle hints of chocolate rise to the nose.
