The Plantation Rum TRINIDAD 2008 Chardonnay Maturation Edition 2021 is a limited-edition single-cask rum from Trinidad, with an alcohol content of 49.6 per cent, presented in a 0.7-litre bottle complete with a gift box. The rum was distilled in 2008 by Trinidad Distillers Limited from molasses using the column still method. Its exceptional maturation spanned three different cask types and two climate zones. Initially, the Trinidad rum was aged for eleven years in a tropical climate in an ex-bourbon cask made from American white oak. It was then transported to Europe, where it underwent a further year of ageing in a cognac cask – a process characteristic of Plantation Rum.


The Plantation Trinidad 2008 was given its final touch by a further one-year finish in a Chardonnay white wine cask from Chablis. As a result, this vintage rum was shaped by ex-bourbon, cognac and Chardonnay casks. It is precisely this unusual Chardonnay cask finish that forms the key distinguishing feature of the Maturation Edition 2021, complementing the powerful Trinidad style with fruity and floral notes. As a single-cask bottling, this edition differs significantly from the brand’s regular blends and is aimed particularly at collectors and enthusiasts of experimental cask maturations. The high alcohol content of 49.6% ABV further emphasises the intense and complex character of this limited-edition rum.
