Description
Since 1635, when Andrea Bottega began cultivating vines in the hills near Refrontolo, the Bottega family has continued to develop. After cultivating their own land, Aldo Bottega revolutionised grappa production by introducing the first single-varietal grappa. Distilleria Bottega, which he founded in 1977, is now located in a renovated 17th century farmhouse in Bibano di Godega di Sant'Urbano, surrounded by 10 hectares of vineyards.
This liqueur owes its name not only to the rose petals from which it is made, but also to the Latin term "ros solis", which means "sundew". Rosolio, which is often referred to as the "liqueur of the past" due to its ancient origins, became widespread from the late 17th century. It was originally produced in monasteries by nuns who macerated rose petals in alcohol to create a fine liqueur for special guests.
Over time, it became the "ladies' liqueur", served at christenings, engagements and weddings. With its elegant aroma and smooth, "feminine" flavour, Rosolio was and still is a popular liqueur for social occasions and conversations.
