The Nagahama Distillery was founded in 2016 and is the smallest distillery in Japan. It is located on the shores of Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan. This is also known as the "mother lake". The amount of water in the lake moderates the climate, which is very good for the maturation of the whisky.

The Amahagan blended whiskies take their name directly from the Nagahama distillery. This is because the word "Nagahama" means "Amahagan" the other way round.

The Amahagan World Malt Whisky Edition No.2 is the second blended whisky in this series.

The carefully selected whiskies, which are sourced from overseas, are blended with fine Nagahama Newmake and matured in the Far Eastern climate. The significant difference in temperature creates a special type of maturation, which is why the series is known as World Malts.

Production takes place in the smallest kettles in Japan. Distillation takes place in a still called "aranbic", which has an Arabian look. This whisky is finished in red wine casks.
