The Bunnahabhain Distillery, situated on the picturesque coast of the Isle of Islay, was founded in 1881 and is renowned for its unique, unpeated whiskies. The distillery originally relied on maritime trade and reached a turning point in 1960 with the construction of a new road, which improved logistics. Following a brief closure in the 1930s and the last ship’s arrival in 1993, the road became the main supply route. In 2006, following its acquisition by Burn Stewart Distillers, the brand’s image underwent a modern revamp. The water used for the whiskies comes from calcareous springs and is channelled to the distillery without coming into contact with peat, which gives the whiskies their mild, characteristic flavour.

The Bunnahabhain Fèis Ìle CALVADOS CASK FINISH 1998 Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 2022 is matured for 20 years before spending the final two years in casks that previously held French Calvados to complete its finish. It is a special edition created by the distillery exclusively for the Islay Festival.
