Description
The Benriach 10 Years Old Triple Distilled Double Cask Matured is an exceptional Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, distinguished by its triple distillation – a process unusual for Scotch whisky. Whilst Scotch is traditionally distilled twice, the Benriach Distillery has been experimenting with a third distillation since 1998 to achieve a particularly fruity and lively character in the spirit. This rare triple-distilled Benriach is matured for at least 10 years in two carefully selected types of cask: first-fill American bourbon barrels and first-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. The bourbon casks contribute mainly vanilla and subtle spicy notes, whilst the PX sherry casks bring additional depth, richness and complexity to the single malt.
The combination of triple distillation and double cask maturation gives this bottling a unique place within the Benriach range. The whisky is unpeated, allowing the fruity character inherent in triple distillation and the influence of the two cask types to unfold clearly. Particularly noteworthy is its natural presentation: the Benriach Triple Distilled 10 Years Old is not chill-filtered and retains its natural colour, which is derived solely from cask maturation. This 10-year-old Speyside single malt is bottled at 43% ABV in a 0.7-litre bottle. Together with the gift box, this bottling offers an interesting choice for connoisseurs who wish to discover a fruit-forward Benriach single malt featuring triple distillation and maturation in both bourbon and PX sherry casks.
