Description
Canaïma Small Batch Gin is an exceptional gin from Venezuela, whose identity is closely linked to the Amazon rainforest and its botanical treasures. A significant proportion of the ingredients used come directly from the Amazon and are sourced in collaboration with indigenous communities. Characteristic Amazonian botanicals include merey, açaí, moriche, túpiro, seje and copoazú. These are complemented by traditional gin botanicals such as juniper, lemon peel, orange peel, coriander, angelica root and caraway. A distinctive feature lies in the labour-intensive production process: the individual ingredients are macerated separately and then distilled individually in traditional copper pot stills. Only then does the Master Distiller blend the various distillates in precisely measured quantities to create the finished Canaïma Gin.
Canaïma Gin, at 47 per cent ABV, is deliberately produced in small batches and combines traditional distillation with rare botanicals from South America. Alongside its unique recipe, the protection of the Amazon plays an important role for the brand. Canaïma supports the Saving the Amazon Foundation, which works with indigenous communities to implement projects for the sustainable protection and reforestation of the rainforest. According to the available product information, 0.50 euros per bottle sold is donated to the organisation. The combination of Amazonian botanicals, separate distillation of the ingredients, small-batch production and an ABV of 47% gives Canaïma a distinct identity amongst modern premium gins and links its Venezuelan origins with a strong connection to the Amazon’s biodiversity.
