Description
In 1851, Charles Heidsieck took the bold step of founding his own champagne house: Charles Heidsieck Champagne. Within a very short time, he made a name for himself with his exceptional wines.
For the ageing and storage of his champagnes, he moved into historic, underground chalk cellars in the French city of Reims. These unique cellars are now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Due to the high humidity and the darkness prevailing there, the chalk cellars are an excellent place for maturing Heidsieck champagnes.
To enhance the quality, the grape juices come from the first pressing and the champagne therefore benefits from a slow and long maturation of 3 to 4 years.
