Gray Whale Distilled Gin is an exceptional premium gin from California, whose concept is inspired by the gray whale’s annual migration route along the North American Pacific coast. The recipe focuses on six Californian botanicals, which are sustainably sourced or wild-harvested and represent different parts of this coastal landscape. The botanicals used are juniper, lime, mint, almonds, pine needles and kombu seaweed. The spirit base consists of 100% neutral grain spirit. The deliberately limited selection of botanicals results in a distinctive gin that combines classic juniper notes with citrus freshness, herbs, nutty elements and maritime and woody influences.

The name ‘Gray Whale Gin’ draws on the migration of gray whales along the Pacific coast and links this to the concept of the ingredients’ origins. Particularly unusual is the use of kombu, a seaweed that lends the Californian gin a subtle maritime dimension, whilst fir and juniper establish the link to the coastal forests. Lime and mint provide freshness, whilst almonds contribute additional depth. With an alcohol content of 43 per cent and a 0.7-litre bottle, Gray Whale Distilled Gin combines Californian heritage, artisanal craftsmanship and a commitment to nature and marine conservation into a distinctive gin concept.
