The Glenfiddich Perpetual Collection VAT 01 Smooth & Mellow is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky and marks the first release in the Glenfiddich Perpetual Collection. At the heart of this series lies the Solera process employed by Glenfiddich, in which the whisky is blended in a large vat after its cask maturation. When bottled, the vat is emptied only to about half its capacity and then refilled with new whisky. As a result, a portion of the previous blend always remains in the vat and is carried over into the next batch. Each new bottling thus builds on the preceding batches and continuously carries forward their character. This principle gives the Perpetual Collection its distinctive identity and links different generations of the whisky together.


The Glenfiddich VAT 01 is crafted from whiskies that have been matured in ex-bourbon casks and red wine casks. The different cask types combine sweet elements with spicy oak notes, forming the basis for the deliberately smooth style of this bottling. At 40 per cent, the single malt is presented in a generous 1-litre bottle, complete with a gift box. As VAT 01 Smooth & Mellow, this variant emphasises a velvety texture and a balanced interplay of sweetness, fruit and spice. The combination of bourbon and red wine cask maturation, the Solera Vat and continuous blending makes VAT 01 a unique addition to the Glenfiddich Perpetual Collection.
