This special bottling was distilled in 2003 and matured for 19 years in American white oak before undergoing further refinement in ex-port wine casks. This special secondary maturation lends the rum an elegant depth, fruity notes and a delicate balance between sweetness and spice. The influence of the port wine brings out notes of dark berries and dried fruit, along with a smooth, velvety texture that makes this rum particularly complex.
