Description
The Ardbeg 8 Years Old FOR DISCUSSION is a unique Islay single malt whisky, bottled at a high alcohol content of 50.8 % vol. This special bottling was released as an experimental creation for the Ardbeg community and invites discussion on the style and characteristics of young, smoky whiskies. Having been matured for 8 years in ex-sherry casks, this whisky offers an exceptional balance between intense smokiness and spicy-sweet sherry notes.
Ardbeg’s history stretches far back: unofficially, distilling has been taking place at the Ardbeg Distillery since 1794, but the distillery was not officially opened until 1815 by John McDougall under the name Ardbeg. The name ‘Ardbeg’ comes from Gaelic and means ‘little hill’ – a reference to the distillery’s geographical location. The distillery is situated on the south coast of the Scottish whisky region of Islay, which is famous for its heavily peated and maritime-influenced whiskies.
This whisky pays homage to the characteristic Ardbeg intensity and will particularly delight lovers of smoky single malts.
